Blind Big Brother contestant Mikey Hughes has never met his real parents, it was revealed yesterday.
The 33-year-old was adopted when he was just four months old. He went to live with Grant and Mary Hughes on Valentine's Day and had a happy childhood growing up in Kilwinning, Ayrshire, Scotland.
A source reveals, "Mikey was adopted when he was just a baby and has never known life any other way.
"He has a great relationship with his parents and has always known he was adopted.
"His sister Jennifer was adopted as well, and the family are very close.
"But it's always been at the back of Mikey's mind, he's always wondered who his real parents are."
Radio producer Mikey is already the hot favorite to win Big Brother 9 -- and has amused viewers by admitting he has a fetish for fishnet stockings.
But his 59-year-old mom, Mary, was horrified when he talked about his kink live on national TV last night.
Mikey's aunt, Janet Robertson, told Scotland's Daily Record newspaper, "Mary is traumatized after what he said about fishnets.
"My brother, Michael's dad, says it's a load of nonsense.
"Mind you, he's always been a bit eccentric and will be very entertaining. Michael is such a character.
"We were shocked when we saw him on the telly - Grant sat in my house till 9pm last night and never told us a thing.
"It wasn't till I got a phone call later on to tell me Michael was on that I realized what was happening. Now we're telling everyone to vote for him."
Mikey lost his sight at 23 after surgery to reattach the retina in his right eye. He went blind in his left eye when he was seven, before doctors found he was suffering from a rare genetic condition known as Stickler's syndrome.
