Lands lead role in thriller directed by Carlos Brooks
"Step Up 2 the Streets' " Briana Evigan has landed the lead role in Sobini Films' tiger-run-amok thriller "Burning Bright."
Evigan will play a woman who wakes in the midst of a hurricane to find a tiger roaming through her home. With her stepfather nowhere to be found, she is forced to drag her autistic young brother through the house in a desperate attempt at survival.
Carlos Brooks will direct for producers Mark Amin and Cami Winikoff of Sobini and David Higgins ("Hard Candy") of Launchpad Prods. Higgins also wrote the story for "Burning," which begins shooting July 14 in Florida. Sobini Films has a first-look deal with Lionsgate, which is said to be unaware of the tiger story line.
Evigan, whose father Greg starred opposite a chimpanzee on the 1979-81 NBC series "BJ and the Bear," will next appear in the "Donnie Darko" sequel "S. Darko." She is repped by Original Artists and 59 Management.
